Two-Way Text Messaging & Client Consent

Important Notice

Telecom providers across the entire US are now requiring all businesses that use Application-to-Person (A2P) text messaging to go through an approval process with the carriers for continued usage. See 2-Way SMS Messaging to learn more.

Additionally, it will be required to obtain client consent for sending out SMS/Text Message notifications such as form invitations, reminders, etc. These changes will take effect on August 31, 2023. See Client consent for SMS notifications generated by Docketwise to learn more


2-Way SMS Messaging

If you are a Docketwise customer that currently uses 2-way SMS messaging, you will be required to submit your firm’s/organization's business details in order to continue using this feature beyond August 31, 2023. Starting on August 9, 2023, you will begin to see an in-app popup form requesting your business information.

Please fill out this form as accurately as possible, as the telecom carriers have been known to check the provided business details against public records and reject applications for any inconsistencies.

Important Notes:

  • The approval process can take several weeks and it is important to submit your information as soon as possible. We will notify you once you have been approved.

  • The form to register for text messaging must be completed by an Admin User on the Docketwise account. If you are not the Admin User of the account, you may need to request that the Admin User complete this form.


Client consent for SMS notifications generated by Docketwise

In order for your clients to receive SMS notifications sent by you through Docketwise, your clients will first need to provide their consent. All existing contacts in your Docketwise account will be considered to have consented by default. However, any new contacts added to the Docketwise app after August 31, 2023 will need to complete the consent workflow.

We will be announcing this consent workflow feature in the coming weeks and providing a user guide before the end of this month.
